An Introduction to the Alexander Technique

Much attention has been placed on how a healthy diet and regular exercise are essential foundations for our well being.  Equally important, but often overlooked, is the way we approach our daily activities.

Our habits of use begin at an early age and accumulate throughout our lives.  Often our response to stress, whether internal or external, is to tighten, try too hard and ‘over do’.  This misplaced use becomes habitual over time which, without us realising, restricts our choice of response.

Our thinking patterns are continually entwining with our emotional and physical body in ways that we are often unaware or feel we can do nothing about. They wear into our daily movements in often very subtle ways, reducing the pleasure of moving and replacing it with aches and pains, groans and moans.

So perhaps it is time to pause for a moment and consider whether these underlying habits have a role in various conditions you may be experiencing :

In looking at your daily life, with habits that have been an undertow for a majority of it, you may decide that it’s time to re-evaluate patterns of thinking and response, and their carriage within your body.
